Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Advanced Lane Guidance
Great device. Love the large screen & live traffic updates. Would definately recommend to anyone looking to buy or upgrade. Awesome features, like the advanced lane guidance. Best of any GPS brand available.

A little disappointing
Date:15 December 2012
Favorite features: spoken street names
Loved our old Tom Tom, updated for the bigger screen (good for us oldies )plus the time saving voice command & advanced lane features.
Voice command rarely picks up suburbs in WA, frustrating having to spend extra time getting it to recognise currect suburb, and even more annoying.. won't recognise the street number, saying it doesn't include that one??? Love the bigger screen, and the advance lane is better, although sometimes a little late directing you early enough at major intersections. Accessories need to have a home charger available to purchase, as charging takes too long via the computer and my car's USB. Would love to see overseas maps include a 30 day option, similar to another competitor, (great idea). More beneficial when travelling regularly to different countries, and for storage capacity.

Driving Distraction
Date:4 October 2012
Favorite features: Mobile Speed Cameras
This is my first Tomtom which will probably be my last. I find this device unreliable (when it come to the LIVE side of things), distracting when driving and useless for naviagtion.
The device requires hard reboot every 3-4 days as refuses to connect to the live update side of things ever few days until a hard reboot is done. It simply stops talking back to base. Some features require you to look at while driving, which is a forced distraction. Speed notifications get pushed off when routing and approaching traffic lights with more than 4 lanes, which isn’t at all helpful. (Especially if you watching speed and you know the lane you should be in, when does this need to take up the entire screen???) Also when pulling up at these types of intersections, all the information you are after is push off and the right lane to be in is only displayed (Useless). This forces you to only look and read it when it is displayed, which is only while driving. There is no way of turning the lane you need to be in option off or have a keep all times "ETA" and "Current speed" display option. When stop at traffic lights, I would like to be able to see time and ETA, this is wipe off by a constant lane selection display. To me this is useless as I know the main roads and the lanes I should be in, I need to know time and ETA (speed too while moving). All this forces you to constantly watch the display for gaps between lights so you can see your ETA and speed.
I don't recomend this at all the live side of things is always wrong road work updates are weeks out and have yet to actually benift from this option. Only advatage is speed and redlight camera but I am having to add in a lot too.

It does not worth the money
Date:27 February 2012
1. The response of the touch screen is too slow if compare to other TOMTOM products, like XL, XXL or Via. It's very annoying & time wasting. 2. The HD Traffic update is not accurate, slow & misleading. The other day, when I was travelling from Collaroy to Greenacre at about 630pm, my Go2050 was telling to travel from boundary road --> grosvenor road --> Lady Games Drive --> Delhi Road --> Epping Road -> Lane Cove Road. For your information, I used to travel from Boundary Road-->Pacific Highwa--> Fullers Road --> Millwood Avenue --> Delhi Road --> Epping Road --> Lane Cove Road.Since the Go2050 come with the HD Traffic update, I was giving it a go. Unfortunately, I was trapped in heavy traffic jam for more than 40 minutes from Grosvenor Road --> Lady Games Drive --> Delhi Road. My Go2050 only informed me the traffic delay when everyone could see it on the road.

Love it I bought it to replace my GO 720 which I loved heaps but give to my girl friend, this unit lacks some of the features that my 720 had ie SD card slot but make up for it with the larger screen and the live traffic. Also have used other brands of unit tha friends have had found them hard to use ie with up dating etc....

My new Tomtom
Date:3 September 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Spoken Directions including street names
I use my tom tom to drive to new territories. It is easy to programme I like the G.P.O.and home features. In city driving Lane guidance is straight forward with ample time to make lane changes when necessary. The big screen is very clear as I am an older driver this is important. I like the route demo feature but would like to speed it up.

A lot of bugs
Date:21 August 2011
Favorite features: Ease of Use
I have the new 2050 Go Live Australia and I have found a lot of bugs with the unit. They are very annoying as you have to hold down the power button for 20 odd seconds to get it to reboot just so you can continue to use it. The HD Traffic is not that accurate. Sometimes it gets it right and other times it is worthless. The Magnetinc Mount is excellent! But the additional cable to plug it into the computer without pulling the cable out of the car is a bit expensive at about $45.00

Yhe tom tom has saved me heaps in fines with the speed cameras. It would be better if it could pick up radar and the parked vehicles with cameras. It is qwsome and also money saving with accuracy of destination/location.

Love my Tom Tom!
Date:20 August 2011
Favorite features: Spoken Directions including street names
I really don't know why I didn't get a GPS sooner - totally love it. It gives me freedom and confidence to go anywhere. A few occasional hiccups in finding places - but when your're "locked in" it takes all the stress out of driving.

Great product from which feel really fluent and fast. I've tried some competitors in the same price category and tomtom feels the most fluent one and interface is really comfortable. It literally start in a second. One thing that is missing is map shares from my previous experience with tomtom home based device. I hope this feature will be soon implemented and then I can say that this is 5 start device.

Great features, good buy.
Date:19 August 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Advanced Lane Guidance
IQ Routes is great, LIVE feature is very helpful but at times takes a long time to connect. At times, the LIVE feature is inaccurate in regards to traffic - eg. it showed a 5 minute delay on a specific road, when passed - there was no traffic at all!!?? Still no clue as to how much the LIVE feature will cost once the free 1 year subscription ends. Other than that it's good unit.
