Via 160 Handy and Easy to Use
Date:24 August 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use
I'm completely new to VIC roads. I can enjoy driving with the help of Tomtom device. What's most impressive, it can give me change lane notice in advance and give me enough time to prepare to make the change (new driver). Thanks. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

Excellent! No regrets
Date:21 August 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names
Moving to the big smoke, I knew I needed a GPS device to guide me around the complete unknown. I had no idea how to get from A to B or what was the best way, but I can rely on my TomTom every time. It tells me the best way depending on what time of the day I need to go, taking into account traffic conditions at that time. The visuals are easy to follow and the voice prompts are excellent. I have never got lost or made a wrong turn and my TomTom gets me there every time.
I love the time feature that estimates what time I'm going to get there, it's been pretty spot on and if I slow down it will adjust it's time. This means I can call and let people know if I'm running late, as I am a person who doesn't like to be late. I also love the Bluetooth syncing with my phone, so I can go hands free when driving, which we all know is a safe bet! I also like the features of directing me to parking at my destination and how easy it is to find a petrol station, supermarket or other frequently used place without having a physical address to put into the device.
I love my TomTom and would recommend to anyone. I researched all brands and products within the brands and feedback I got was always excellent with TomTom. Plus I like the map upgrade option over a year and see this as good value.

A waste of maney.
Date:25 September 2012
I could not trust this device. During the learning phase I asked the Tom Tom to negotiate a route I knew well.
It immediately told me to do a U turn at an intersection where it was both dangerous and illegal to do so.
If I cannot trust it close to home, how can I trust it in foreign country or strange city.
It is an amusing toy but no more than a toy.

About two weeks after buying my via 160 the USB charger packed up. I went back to the dealer and they said it wasn't the USB charger. I bought another one from Dick Smith and have no problems since. The cost of the new USB charger was $20.00.

Improved features. Still it is hard to trace and track purchase items and Tom Tom keeps asking to purchase what we have already purchased, for example speed cameras. So we get confused and try to purchase again.

My Experiance
Date:24 September 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names
This is an exceptional piece of technology. The first time I used the Tom Tom VIA 160 was when I drove a hire car from London Heathrow airport to Rezare Farm in Cornwall England, which is near the town of Launceston. I am sure that if I had not have had Tom Tom, I would still be trying to get out of LHR. My wife and myself toured all over Cornwall, Wales and into Scotland.
During this tour we negotiated Main roads to country lanes, always reaching our desired destination.
Tom Tom VIA 160 is a must if you are travelling to unknown destinations

Via 160 Review
Date:18 September 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names
The product takes a bit of getting used to when it comes to navigating through its options, with you sometimes going around in circles until you get it. I also found that the mytomtom website would sometimes say that an update was there when the device had already loaded it. Apart from that the device did the job beautifully, with only the occasional map requiring an update or it having the speed limit incorrect.

Tom Tom Overseas
Date:10 September 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance
We recently used the Tom Tom on an overseas trip and along with the appropriate downloads found the Tom Tom fantastic. It probably saved our marriage and decreased stress levels!! Its main limitation is that battery life outside of the car is minimal and so the Tom Tom cannot be used for on foot navigation.

Above Average but Cool
Date:4 September 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Spoken Directions including street names, voice control
The Voice Control Microphone is not sensitive and can hear things incorrectly and also it has lots of features and you get loads of little dialog boxes which may be a bit complicated to those who do not really understand the modern world of technology. However, the design of the product is excellent. It's compact size and the built in window-mount is very convenient. This would be a good idea if you were traveling lots

Battery life - (more like half)
Date:3 September 2011
Can't complain about the device when it's plugged into power - does all I want it to. Couple of little niggles - for speed zone updates (when you mark them, and after you get back to the pc), it doesn't give you any idea if you are at the beginning or at the end of the correction. This is specially annoying for areas like Old Windsor Rd, where you have a 60 zone crossing an 80 zone (if it's accurate enough to place you on the main drag, then it should display the correct speed). Accuracy seems to be the standard 20m +/-.
And although I've only had it for 6 months, I found the battery life to be more like 20minutes (than the 3+ hours the salesman claimed) so as a portable device it leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it's just my sample.

Great Navigator
Date:3 September 2011
Favorite features: Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names
We recently used our TomTom for driving in Canada. It was really good to have a navigator that you can rely on when driving in another Country. this is my second TomTom and the new one is more user friendly than my previous model.

Don't leave home without Katie.
Date:1 September 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use
I use the Irish voice of Katie to direct me around when I don't know the area and I recently flew to Perth from Melbourne and took Katie with me because I hired a car and didn't want to pay to hire when I already had her to help me. Before leaving home I set Katie up with all the addresses I was visiting and had absolutely no troubles finding any of them. I traveled south to Margaret River and Albany - stopping often and going away from Katie's directions to play the tourist. Katie was always able to direct me back to where I needed to be.
When I got to the airport on my way home - I realised I had not filled the car with petrol, so Katie directed me to the nearest petrol station and back to the airport. Thanks Katie for making it all so easy.
