Motorhomer's Friend
Date:06 January 2013
Favorite features: lat/long input, large screen
A basic TT Start has been useful for my car in the UK. However, now retired with a new motorhome, I want to tour Europe, making particular use of motorhome stops such as the brilliant French 'aires'. Books of these stops include lat/long co-ordinates for pin-point locating. After much searching, and useless advice from very ignorant shop assistants, I found this TT Start 60. It's large screen makes it great for viewing when the windscreen can be quite a distance in such vehicles. It has a very clear 'navigate to' menu that then includes a lat/long key. Importantly, the speed camera function can be disabled - useful if near to over-zealous gendarmes #speed warning devices are illegal in France#. The rest is very simple. The device is easy to link to My Tom Tom online, creating an account and downloading updates. I like the Settings function, allowing me to choose km for foreign travel and even specify reminders about driving on the right abroad. There are a multitude of other functions I have yet to discover but the ones I really want are clearly present. Can't wait to use this for a month's tour in the Spring. Dislikes are minor and to date there are only two: the USB lead is a fiddle to connect to the device; secondly, if it is plugged in to the computer it is charging the battery yet 'the state of battery charge' symbol on screen is replaced by a 'computer connected' symbol. It would be better to have both so that I know when full charge is reached or only have the battery symbol. I think we know when we have connected a device to our computers!

Speed cameras
Date:02 January 2013
Favorite features: none so far
It only warns of cameras on the left. A lot of cameras on the right are set to get you both ways. In an unfamiliar area I have to use my old tomtom. No point in buying a new one.

Help the disabled ! Start 60.
Date:06 December 2012
Having been a user of 'Tom Tom' for many years I can say that this model is really very good value for money. Large screen helps the elderly driver, although a bigger choice of night colours would be nice.
Finally 'Tom Tom' take notice please.... For those hard of hearing or the disabled elderly, how about 'Bluetooth', then it would feed the sound to the cars audio system, avoiding road noise etc...... simple, cheap to make & install, and a great help to those who are not 100% perfect!. So, how about showing us your do care for the disabled & elderly in this world. Again, super value and easy to use.... try it and see. Cheers all.

wot a difference
Date:29 October 2012
Favorite features: screensize, clarity of mapping, lightweight
i bought start 60 to replace an old Go device which was a bit bulky and need i say more a beautiful slim device which i can place either way up. A large screen so I can see whats going on at a glance.(lessens distractions) Far easier to read and follow. The only downside I found is that I cant turn the sound up high enough to hear when my vehicle moving at speed. Because I am partially deaf hard to pick up instructions over road noise!! Would welcome an amplifier or system wired to my hearing aids !!?

Worthy upgrade
Date:28 October 2012
I bought the Start 60 to replace my old One XL, its alot better.
Only gripe i have it dosen't seem to have the function to pick what kind of vehicle you are in, I drive a truck for work and it has a habit of trying to send me down single track country roads.
