I am a business traveler. Purchased the 630 series navigation device, after three months would not tur on. Had to send back to Tom Tom. After one week, they concluded it could not be fixed. Rather than replacing with a new one I got a used one as a replacement. What a deal here. The start up works. Takes a minimum of three minutes to find itself to start navigating. Second you must press the screen hard, to the point the sceen gets distorted to select icons and options. After system gets running, processor is to slow to keep up with destination. You will miss turns, since processor is slow, true navigation is delayed. If you like turn around when possible, or double tracking this is a navigation for you. Would recommend anything other than a Tom Tom.

Horrible and Unreliable
Date:October 25, 2011
This device is horrible! The first unit that was sent to me failed to work out of the box. TomTom replaced it, but charged me shipping. The traffic feature has never worked, even with the RDS adapter. My cellphone used to sync with it, but after a firmware update that stopped working except for Bluetooth, which after a year of occasionally using the GPS device has also stopped working. The device has, on several occasions, sent us to the wrong address (during one lapse of TomTom judgement it sent us to South Portland Maine, rather than Portland, Maine, and, yes, I did triple check to confirm it was not user error). Also, even with a map subscription, roads are constantly filled with errors (I was on a stretch of the Maryland Southern Expressway that has been completed for over three years and TomTom couldn't figure it out). The device's newest habit is to stop giving voice commands randomly. I had thought TomTom was a reputable company, but the 630 is unreliable and after a year not even a useful paperweight.

Has multi waypoints storage and sd, tomtom.....
Date:October 16, 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names, itn, mp3
Get it while you can, TomTom Itineraries (.itn) very important feature, you can set multi stops on a route and saved them to memory. Mp3 sd card also is great. You WILL NOT GET THESE features anymore on newer models. I bought a new TomTom’s GO 2505TM and found out it does not support programmable way points. I payed 120 less for this and can do what my old tomtom one xl use to do plus more. This also updates faster and shows up as a drive letter in windows. The new gps force you to use a web interface which is slow and you cannot access the device in explorer any more. So you guys that like the change stuff tomtom has totally stopped anyone from changing or even backing up itn files anymore let alone create an multi point stops. Get em while they last. BEST gps on the market!!!!! If i could I would buy 2 as the screens dont seem to last more than 2 years. I bought an extended warranty.

Have had my Go630 for several years, no complaints. Quick to program, quick to change routes. The delete function could be improved by allowing you to choose which recent destinations to delete.
Alternative function is great!

After one & half years my 630 is junk. And I took very good care of it. I loved it then it just went crazy. It jumps from menu option to menu option. Very disappointed in it
The unit was a gift from my daughter and family and I have really enjoyed it. When I have used it to navigate in new or seldom used locations, I have found it to be quite accurate. Occasionally, it has left me from several yards away to next door but has always been close enough 'for government work'. Driving well known routes I find it an enjoyable companion for the information it gives me. I have used it on trains, planes and ferries with good results. I do find that on alternate routes it can be a little inaccurate but it always follows me so I do have situational information that is accurate. I don't use the spoken directions.

Street names are not always correct. Suggested routes do not appear to always be the shortest or easiest ones to follow. Bought it for its "advanced lane guidance" & "spoken directions" features and am very satisfied.

GPS that rate 5 stars
Date:April 21, 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names, feature options
The tot-tom go630 has been one of my best purchases of consumer electronics. It is functional in every facet of its design. Outstanding graphics with wealth of information available at your fingertips on the touch screen. Various screen enhancements for daylight and evening screens. Easy to use and setup for anyones preferences. Good indicators for mileage, speed, direction, etc. Excellent pronunciation for road names that are difficult to pronounce. Good selection of voices and various options. Also prevents you from becoming lost. Works very well in rural areas that I tavel. I use the bluetooth occasionally and was surprised to have it speak text messages! Customer support is excellent, lifetime updates might be an enhancement to offer..

I started using my GPS in july of 2010. Basically no problems navigating from MN to AL and other MN destinations. A frustrating problem with maps of Lake City, where I live, have not been up dated. I sent a request last august. This request was excepted. Dead end streets that are now open, County road numbers have changed ,etc. The current Lake City maps are at least six years old.

Had better for less money

First, I have a GO 930, but you don't have it listed--that should send me a message. I selected 630 and rated it as I would my 930. I am very disappointed with the lack of POIs in USA. I had cheap Garmin which was much better in this regard. Second it has terrible glare when sitting on dash, which is where I have to put it to receive satellites. Third, when I fly someplace and turn on at new location, it seems to take inordinate amount of time to decide where it is. I will go back to Garmin when I'm ready to replace this one.

This my second TomTom GPS. First one either Go 920 or 930. Both of these devices have weak battery design. First one was a throw away after three years would no longer hold charge. Three years is not enough life for a $350 gps unit. I am allready having low battery problems with the 630. All other features are excellent!

I am very happy overall with my GO630 GPS but I don't understand why it doesn't list some places in the POI section. I have a couple of friends that have Garmin & also Magellan GPSs & some things that they can find in their POI section, I can not find in mine ---- why is this?? I thought that I have the most recent updated maps since I just updated & downloaded new maps that I just purchased online..... J.

I have a GRAMIN GPS as well (for my motorcycle) and I find the TomTom has better navigation screens, handles ramps on and off highways better, better verbal directions and better at getting onto your suggested route from parking lots, etc. I also like the estimated time to destination in both time & distance. My only negative comment is that recently I updated my maps and lost all of my favourites only to find out that is normal and that I should have 'backed up' first ... however, nowhere in the update process was I advised to do this. Better yet, in this day of technology (software development), TomTom should have just handled it so that users like me don't get disappoointed.

Most of the time it works great and is a really big help. However we occassionally have problems, this weekend in the Branson Missouri area it didn't have some of the newer roads. Also sometimes in Dallas if we don't have the zip code, it can't find the street.

The 630 won't let you put two cross roads in if you don't what town they are close to. When wanting to go to flint Michigan it does not recognize to go to Sarnia. The route wants to go to Buffalo then to ohio, no matter how you change the planning preferences. For the POI you can't type the store name in unless you know the category which it belongs. For those reasons I feel it is not fairly easy to operate.
