I'm 74 years old and don't have a technical back ground, but just working with Customer Support and reading the device manual. I've used my Tom Tom to set up my complete 2000 mile round trip. I got Hotel reservations, Resturant Locations and even directions to a Winery on Route Using the Route Planer on the Tom Toms Customer Support site, made life much easier, it shows the traffic flow on your route. Tecno Driver I'm not until I got my Tom Tom

ok, I have now owned 4 tomtom devices and all 4 have been returned for replacement within the warranty period, but barely as they have all died. I am on the 4th one now and I think I am going to throw in the towel and get something else as this product is not very reliable.

Great Deal!

Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use, Voice command and control, spoken street names, hands free, like having a yellow pages built in!
I loved the first one I got, but, there was something wrong with it. Trouble doing sync to phone, voice recognition seemed not to work at all. Tech said there was a major update coming for it. Sure enough about 3 months later it stopped charging. I sent it back in RMA and 7 days later received a replacement. IT ROCKS! The new one came with some newer, seemingly updated software and works perfectly. I am on old man that travels over 600 miles a week. I love this thing for all its features!

Everything has worked great on this device. It is a wonderful upgrade from my One XL S. The only reason for a slightly lower rating on the accuracy came because as I was trying to get off of I-10 in Phoenix onto US 51 North, the Tom Tom told me to continue on 10, when the exit ramp showing north bound 51 was exiting....Now, there could have been an alternate exit further up, but I doubt it. So, not sure about what was going on...Otherwise, worked . I like the Big screen, the and the voice recognition. The touch screen works great, and is very responsive. Also like the map view mode which gives your location and the surrounding area...Lets you get a bit of situation awareness.
Overall excellent product.!

The 2505 has all the features I can envision ever needing in a GPS. It is user friendly. Voices are easily recognizable. Large screen makes it easier to see. Voice activation is great for hands-off use.

Poor route planning capability
Date:November 10, 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names
I find the overall performance of the unit acceptable. What will drive me to trash this unit is the inability to plan a route by picking the route that I want. I prefer to take the long route/back roads to get to some places. Even recalculating does not yield my route very often. On occasion it will select my route but there is no way, that I have found to save this route. It always goes back to the "prime" route it selected. It is most frustrating that a device like this would have such a significant short coming. If you take the route less often traveled, avoid this model.

Simply Brilliant
Date:November 2, 2011
Favorite features: Advanced Lane Guidance, Ease of Use, Spoken Directions including street names, voice address input, 5" glass screen, magnetic mount
Just arrived in the mail GO 2505 , There are differences from older models , First off - The Voice activation, where you can use simple commends to operate with almost never touching the unit, I mean almost in a good way, press the icon on the screen this avoids any confusion that might happen when normal conversation might be misinterpreted as an input command, not only for address but everything from 2D to 3d switching or dimming the contrast. There was one issue with setting up that it would connect or pick up any satellite signals, a call to customer support and it was actually my fault , overly exited to try it out I didn't update the device so the satellite position data was incorrect, by the way great costumer support

What a nice upgrade from the cheaper models!
Date:October 10, 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, screen
Anyone coming from the "walmart special" $100 type units will be pleasantly surprised when using the Go 2505. The built quality is much higher, the screen capacitive (similar to the iphone), and the feature set is much more expansive. The traffic feature works great too.
The only complaint I have is with the windshield mount that comes with the GPS. The ball-joint that allows the GPS to rotate around works based on friction, and as a result the GPS tends to "droop" down over time when driving, especially over bumps in the road. They need locking screws or something to fix the position better.

I recently purchased this to replace a 4 year old lower end Garmin. The 5 in screen is great, like the ability to hear different voices, graphics are good. However in checking it out in areas I know, it did not really give the fastest, shortest or otherwise more logical route to places. When I would go my way, it would reroute, but often would just suggest I turn around and go back to its original route. Also, the voice often tells you something different from the map on the screen which is not good if you are alone. (the graphic was correct by the way; not the voice). Lastly, while the graphic has shown x number of miles to next turn, there has often been an interim turn on to a different street name without that being shown clearly.

Programming and using the TomTom 2505 is great. Its accuracy is very good almost everywhere I have been. I have had problems downloading new map updates and the devices designed to mount the TomTom in the automobile do not secure the gps well enough and the position where you can mount it is very inconvenient.

Universally missing feature but otherwise great
Date:August 2, 2011
Favorite features: IQ Routes™ Technology, Advanced Lane Guidance
I really want to see TomTom add a feature to display the name of the town/city/village you are driving through right on the main directions page. Would like to know where I am on long routes in case I want to remember a place to come back to at some point.
Other than this universally missing feature, the product is very reliable. Great to have unlimited map and traffic. Nice bigger screen. Occasionally window mount starts to let the bigger TomTom dip down but working the ball and socket from side to side seems to bring back its strength. Looking forward to being able to customize my driving icon with future software updates.

Will work good as a paperweight, but not much else
Date:June 23, 2011
1st... I repair computers for a hobby. I'm not computer illiterate! Problems with the TomTom from day one. Software didn't load correctly. Customer service said to ignore the error messages. Maps won't download... After multiple phone calls and 3 months later I was authorized for replacement. I was told to expect the replacement in 1-2 weeks. It took 24 days. They sent me a different unit. I immediatly asked for a full refund. I was told I cannot get a refund because I did not purchase it directly from TomTom. But I advised him that I did purchase it directly from TomTom and had a copy of the receipt to prove it. He then had to go talk to his supervisor again. Imagine that! I'm still sitting here with a $344 paperweight waiting for a decision from finance now (their latest excuse for not refunding my money), and that will take another 3-5 days they claim. I have lost all patience with these people. I just want a refund so I can be done with this company.

Why I'll keep my TT...
Date:June 13, 2011
Favorite features: Ease of Use
Seems like many folks frustrated by TomTom difficulties to implement their new "mytomtom" services, and fed-up with the inability to access some of the most basic features are saying that they'll move over to "the other brand". So I looked a the "other brand", intrigued and curious to see what people like so much about it (other than not having to deal with "mytomtom" current missing functionality).
Frankly, after testing "the other brand" interface I quickly concluded that I'd rather stick with my TomTom as I find the User Interface much nicer personally. That is not to say that there isn't a few things I'd change in the way the TomTom user interface is implemented, but overall, I like in general the way TomTom latest interface is working. Nice, clean and effective.
What would I change ? Well, for one I'd provide a way to see the actual street address (or grid reference for things such as parks) of POIs. Seems pretty fundamental, and that information could/should be provided in the POI general Info field. I'd also like to have a "Drive to City" quick button. i.e. one where I don't have to specify a street address, but just say take me to Seattle, and TomTom would plan a route to the Downtown core. The ability to put multiple Waypoints and save a route would be a nice addition as well. I'd also like the ability to issue a spoken command to drive to the last POI reported. You're driving along, and your TomTom says: "Park 250m"; then you respond: "Drive to last POI" and TT takes you there (POIs aren't necessarily on the way). On Favourites, one should also be able to specify a phone number to call and other info (such as Suite #) and as for POI, TT should automatically provide Street Address. One has to provide it to setup a Favourite, then why not display it in Favourite Info ? All little things, all could be implemented without a change to hardware (i.e. firmware updates).
I won't say much about the current TT lack of functionality because of TT difficulty to implement "mytomtom". Hopefully TT will soon resolve the missing "mytomtom" functionality... at least before my next trip to Europe, as I cannot buy a new map even if I wanted to until they do !
